Taylor Newberry Consulting (TNC) is a social research and evaluation company located in Guelph, Ontario. Founded in 2010 by Andrew Taylor and Jason Newberry, TNC began with a bold idea: research and evaluation should be a force for social good, not just a reporting tool. Andrew and Jason are both experienced, full-time specialists who bring more than 35 years experience combined working in the not-for-profit sector and a shared belief that the quality of our research depends on the quality of our relationships. This belief also drives the rest of the TNC team, which has now grown to include 7 full time staff. TNC is based on the idea that good research is a necessary ingredient in making our communities stronger and healthier.We prioritize flexible, relationship-based approaches over rigid checklists and value lived experience just as much as data. In our experience, research is most useful when the people it concerns help to form the research agenda and contribute to the action plan.We see our communication skills as being just as important as our technical research skills.
We know these beliefs only matter if we actually live them. At TNC, our practice begins within our own team. We prioritize the well-being of our staff members by investing in internal projects that allow us to reflect, learn, and care for one another. Most TNC staff are full-time employees, and many have been with the company for several years. By valuing our team’s health and supporting each other’s growth, we ensure we have the intentionality needed to listen deeply to the communities we serve.
The Taylor Newberry Consulting head office is located on Between the Lakes (no. 3) Treaty land, the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation of the Anishinaabek Peoples. Our organization commits to taking concrete steps in support of truth and reconciliation. Some of the ways we do this is by building genuine partnerships with Indigenous colleagues and communities, practicing ethical and culturally mindful research practices, and by centering the voices of the communities we intend to benefit through participatory action research.
