At Taylor Newberry Consulting, we’re always looking for ways to enhance not only the well-being of our team but also the quality of service we provide to our clients. Building on the success of our “No Meeting Fridays” initiative, we’re excited to announce our bi-weekly 4-day work week pilot!
Starting May 16, 2025, our office will be closed every other Friday for our full-time staff. This pilot will run until November 21st, 2025, during which time we’ll be carefully evaluating how this new structure fits our practice, considering both the benefits for our team and its effect on our work. Our part-time team members and subcontractors who we work with on specific projects might still be working on these Fridays.
This step towards a different work structure is informed by research from across the globe that highlights the considerable benefits of a 4-day work week on the physical, mental, and emotional health of employees. It has also been shown to create more equal opportunities and treatment for people of all genders. In today’s world, where staff working in the nonprofit sector face complex and interconnected challenges that often lead to stress and burnout, building the resilience of our team is essential. By aligning our internal practices with the principles that guide our client-facing work, we aim to cultivate a more just and sustainable organization. This pilot will help us see if our current ways of working are truly supporting our team and, as a result, our clients.
We believe this pilot program holds several key benefits including:
- Improved Team Health and Well-being: Providing our team with more extended periods for rest and personal pursuits is a top priority. We anticipate this will lead to reduced stress, improved mental and physical health, and a more energized and focused workforce.
- Improved Work-Life Balance: A better work-life balance cultivates greater job satisfaction and a more engaged and dedicated team, which directly enhances the quality of service we can provide.
- Increased Team Focus and Productivity: By offering our team more concentrated periods of rest and rejuvenation, we anticipate enhanced focus and efficiency during their working hours.
- Continued Commitment to Excellent Service: Our commitment to providing exceptional service remains unwavering. We have carefully planned this pilot to minimize any potential disruption to our operations.
What this means for our clients:
- Continued clear communication: We’ll make sure our availability is clear.
- Proactive Planning: We’ll be on top of our workload to meet deadlines and handle anything urgent.
- Continued Support: While the office will be closed on alternate Fridays, we will work with our clients in advance to plan for any critical activities or deadlines that might fall on those days, ensuring continued support and communication as needed.
This pilot is an exciting exploration of the way we work at Taylor Newberry Consulting. We will be sharing updates and we invite you to follow along on our journey as we explore new ways to support our team and enhance our work
