TNC is excited to spotlight the excellent work of The Re-Seasoning Coalition, a non-profit organization disrupting the foodservice industry by creating more opportunities for the advancement of Black people across all levels of the sector.
The Coalition’s work is anchored in race-based research, allowing them to leverage data to help partners uncover biases, blind spots, and opportunities for change. Re-Seasoning believes that they can affect systemic change in the foodservice industry in our lifetime, one business at a time. They achieve this by leveraging robust research and strategic partnerships with industry associations, independent operators, and corporate businesses to increase representation of Black Canadians in the industry.
Here at TNC we are inspired by their work and are excited to partner with them on an evaluation of the Empowerment and Equity Program. The Coalition has the ultimate goal of increased representation of Black women in foodservice and propelling the advancement of Black women, and those with diverse identities in the sector. With funding from WAGE, The Coalition will be launching this course-based program in spring, 2025. Registration will be open to food service industry leaders and executives with course learning focused on equity and anti-racism in the workplace, and best practices for recruitment and retention of Black women. Re-Seasoning will support industry leaders in making workplaces where Black women can thrive.
